A Jump from Chicago to Kansas

I had tracked my great-great-grandfather, Patrick Devenish, to Chicago in 1880, but no farther. Imagine my delight when I put in his name and, suddenly, there he was with the whole family—in Kansas! Thanks to Ancestry, I’ve now seen the land they owned in Kansas, and I’ve gotten photos of his headstone from members of the local genealogical society. – Marguerite Harrington

Ancestry Broke Down My 10-Year Brick Wall

I’ve been searching for more than ten years for information about my great-aunt Alice Maude Roschy. I re-subscribed about a year ago to Ancestry and used the U.S. census records, WWI draft registration cards, and Historical Newspaper Collection to track down information about Alice, her husband, her children, and even her gravesite. – Susan Brosnahan

Ancestry Helped Me Find and Repair a Family Tree Error
The recent addition of Maryland Marriages, 1634–1777, has pointed out a likely error in my tree and has provided an almost-certain correction at the same time. Original source work will nail this shut, but I’m confident that I now have the right information. Thanks, Ancestry, for getting me back on the right track! – Donald Hanna
Ancestry provided help from a professional genealogist

I tried for several years and spent a lot of money trying to find my wife's grandfather's birthplace. Then this past November, Ancestry contacted me and assigned a professional genealogist to assist me. Her name was Ceil Wendt, and in less than 10 days, she had not only located his birth and baptismal place, but also his parents on both sides of the family and even a generation beyond that. I am eternally grateful to Ancestry, because it helped me make a 93-year-old woman (my wife's mother) very happy.

Thanks again,
Richard Hardesty

Ancestry Solved My Longstanding Puzzle

My family was having trouble solving the mystery of why my ancestor Seth Sturgess’s first wife died after his second wife. Within two weeks of searching on Ancestry, I solved this longstanding puzzle by finding that Seth and his first wife were divorced. Thanks, Ancestry, for providing the information we hadn’t been able to find anywhere else! – Lynne Snyder

Ancestry Took Me Back More than Four Generations

My first search on Ancestry was for my grandmother’s maiden name, and I was joyously greeted with information on all of her brothers and sisters, taking me back more than four generations. I have had equal success in searching for other grandparents. This has been a journey well worth taking. – Cheryl Hamilton

Ancestry World Tree® files

"I can't believe it. I found my maternal grandmother's family in your Ancestry World Tree® files. In six years, I haven't been able to find anything on this family. I've added thirty people to that line and have confirmed other facts that I was unsure of. This is the best service I've found yet. Thank you!"

Ancestry.com Is Faster than the Library

Recently I spent a day researching at the state library, expecting to find many great things there that I couldn’t find online. Wrong! Every snippet of information I found there was also available on Ancestry. Even now, as I review and update my family tree, new “hints” are popping up as Ancestry adds more records. – Richard Beyke

Continuing My Mother's Family History Legacy

My mother instilled in me a love of family history, and after her death I’ve tried to continue her work. I purchased Family Tree Maker and received a free nine-month subscription to Ancestry. I have since renewed for a full year because I discovered that it is well worth the investment—I love it! – Cynthia Kay Vaughn Reed

Discovering Who I Am

When I joined Ancestry and started my family history, I knew only my grandparents’ names. Through research I now know I have traceable roots in Switzerland and Scotland. It’s a great feeling knowing where you came from and being able to share this information with new family everywhere. It has been wonderful discovering who I am. I love Ancestry. – Karen Holloway
