A few years ago, I was going through some old family pictures. I noticed an old match box mixed in with the pictures. Out of curiosity, I opened the match box and found several family obituaries from the 1860s--all in German. In another box of pictures from my mother’s family, I found a paper pill box. It also contained family obituaries that had been neatly folded and placed in the box. My tip is to take your time when sorting through inherited items, so you don’t miss the treasures that are in those old books, boxes, and papers.
